Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month: Holding Space for Grief, Healing, and Hope

Posted on October 17, 2025

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time to honor and remember the many forms of loss that often go unseen or unspoken. This includes miscarriage, stillbirth, and the heartbreak that can accompany unsuccessful fertility treatments. Each experience carries its own kind of grief, but they share a common truth: no one should have to face that pain alone.

At Kentucky Fertility Institute, we know that behind every treatment cycle, ultrasound, or lab result are hopes, dreams, and deep emotions. When those dreams are interrupted by loss, the feelings that follow—sadness, anger, confusion, guilt—can be overwhelming and make it hard to move forward. However, these emotions are valid. For some, grief may feel immediate and sharp; for others, it unfolds slowly over time. Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, and healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means learning to carry love and loss side by side.

We also recognize that pregnancy and infant loss can be an isolating experience. Many people hesitate to talk about it, unsure how to share something so personal or how others might respond. But you don’t have to carry that silence here.  At Kentucky Fertility Institute, we strive to create space for open, compassionate conversation and care that honors both the medical and emotional realities of fertility. Whether you need a listening ear, time to grieve, or support as you process your experience, you’ll be met with empathy, respect, and understanding.

When and if you feel ready, we are also here to help you explore what comes next at a pace that feels right for you. This might include testing for recurrent pregnancy loss, reviewing your treatment options, or simply talking through what healing and hope could look like moving forward. There’s no single path forward after loss, and our role is to help you find the one that’s right for you.

To anyone experiencing pregnancy and infant loss: your love, your grief, and your courage are seen. This month and every month, Kentucky Fertility Institute stands beside you—with empathy, compassion, and understanding for wherever you are in your journey. If you’d like to talk with someone about your experience or learn more about support after pregnancy loss, please don't hesitate to reach out.
