Robert K. Hunter II, MD, MSc, MBA, FACOG
Practice Director
Dr. Robert Hunter founded Kentucky Fertility Institute to provide residents of Kentucky and surrounding areas with a local home for world-class fertility care. As Practice Director, he is committed to ensuring that both the medical care and experience provided to KFI patients is unparalleled in the region. His clinical approach is compassionate, open-minded, and patient-centered—as he believes every patient’s journey to parenthood is unique.

Dr. Hunter completed his fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Louisville, where he also earned dual master’s degrees in Public Health and Business Administration. Originally from Birmingham, he attended Emory University for his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology, earned his medical doctorate at AUC School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Staten Island University. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Resolve: The National Infertility Association.
Dr. Hunter has published and presented research in a number of academic journals and conferences and has won multiple awards for excellence in clinical care, teaching, and leadership. He is one of only a handful of fertility specialists in the nation to have earned an ABOG Practice Focus Designation in Minimally-invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and his pioneering efforts in oocyte cryopreservation led to the first fertility preservation partnership in the National Women’s Soccer League, which has now become a model for similar programs across women’s athletic organizations nationwide. In his free time, Dr. Hunter enjoys studying music theory, playing the Hammond organ, and spending time with his wife and two children.
